On this week’s OEM Industry Update, editor Sara Jensen speaks with Justin Savage who is the global co-leader of Sidley Austin’s environmental group and leads Sidley’s Automotive and Mobility Sector about emissions compliance for off-road equipment. While there are no new regulations currently being proposed, OEMs and engine manufacturers need to ensure proper development and testing of their products to comply with current emissions regulations.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have said reducing emissions from off-highway equipment is a priority. And the Governor of California has announced a ban on internal combustion engines (ICE) by 2035 where possible—which includes off-highway equipment. So while no new regulations are yet in place, ensuring regulatory compliance will remain key for manufacturers.

OEM Industry Update covers various technologies and trends in the heavy equipment engineering and manufacturing industries. Click here to find past episodes of the OEM Industry Update podcast.
